Abstract: We discuss two topics where one can use SM processes to learn about QCD and then to use them as tools to probe physics beyond the SM. We first discuss hadronic $Z$ decays, like $Z \to \J/\psi \gamma$ and then move to discuss ways to measure $b$ and $c$ polarization in high energy jets.
