Professor Emeritus Chung Yun Chang died on October 29, 2025, in San Diego, California. He was 95.

Prof. Chang was a native of rural Hunan, China. He received a bachelor’s degree at National Taiwan University and a Ph.D. at Columbia University in 1965 before joining the University of Maryland.

During his career, Prof. Chang worked on the OPAL project in the Large Electron-Positron collider at CERN. He also assisted in a neutrino oscillation research project at the Institute of Physics, Academia Sinica, in Taiwan, and was interested in cosmological mysteries such and worked on the properties of dark matter. He was a Fellow of the American Physical Society.

Following his retirement in 1997, he continued working as a UMD Research Scientist before moving to California.
