New Physics from the Cosmos to Precision Experiments
Abstract: Are there undiscovered fundamental laws governing the universe? If so, what form might they take, and how can they be detected at an experiment? This colloquium explores how the striking coincidence between the observed energy densities of visible matter and dark matter motivates the development of novel theoretical frameworks. These models offer new predictions, including a percent-level prediction for this cosmological ratio, as well as the existence of new forces. These new forces, alongside modifications to established forces, can be explored with high-precision techniques, including atomic clocks, light-shining-through-wall cavity experiments, and other small-scale laboratory probes.
