Abstract : Did you know that there is a working nuclear reactor on campus? If you heard about it, did you ever wish you could see it? Amber Johnson, Director of the UMD Research Reactor and Radiation Facilities, will lead a tour of the facilities. IMPORTANT: anyone associated with the Physics Department is welcome but must read IN ADVANCE the information at https://radiation.umd.edu/visitor-form/ and submit the online form at least 48 hours before the event (i.e., by Monday afternoon). On Wednesday we will meet in the usual seminar room (PSC 3150) at 4:00, eat a few cookies, then walk over together to the Radiation Facilities. It is OK if you bring your cell phone and/or a small bag but they will be stored safely in an office during the tour.
