Title : Decoding the Higgs: Examining Spin Correlations in Four-Lepton Decays

Speaker Name: Jeffrey Davis

Speaker Institution : Johns Hopkins

Abstract : Higgs to four-lepton decays, the so-called "golden channel" provides a rich kinematic environment for constraining physics beyond the standard model. In this talk, I will discuss the analysis of spin correlations in Higgs to four-lepton decays using the CMS detector with the Run2 and Run3 LHC datasets. The interactions of the Higgs boson with electroweak vector bosons are studied through an effective Lagrangian framework, and the results are presented as constraints on parameters that extend beyond the Standard Model. The polarization density matrix in the H → ZZ decay is measured, and a search for CP violation in the polarization of the Z bosons is conducted. Implications regarding quantum entanglement and the violation of a Bell-type inequality is also discussed.
